Established in 1946 and based in Edinburgh, Bernard Hunter is a highly successful family run business which has become a well known name within the crane hire, scrap metal processing and machinery movement industry.
A strategy of steady but on-going investment has resulted in Bernard Hunter owning some of the most modern equipment within its industry. Now recognised as one of the main crane hire companies in the UK, the Company operates a wide variety of mobile cranes, ranging from a small Maeda crawler crane, through to a mobile tower crane (Scotland’s first), as well as having a large and comprehensive mix of Liebherr cranes, including the LTM 1050 and a massive Liebherr 500 tonne truck mounted crane.
Due to the very nature of the industry in which the business operates, safety is the number one priority. Bernard Hunter is firmly committed to upholding the highest possible standards of Health and Safety for every individual who is either directly or indirectly involved with crane hire and contract lifting activities - a policy which, fittingly, has resulted in Bernard Hunter being announced as the winner of Scotland’s “Top Health and Safety Conscious Company” award at the recent Transport News 2013 Scottish Rewards event.
The LTM 1050-3.1 crane, on which the model will be based, is a 3 axle, mobile crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 50 tonnes (at a radius of 3m) and a maximum lifting height of 48m. As an ‘All-In’ crane, the LTM 50 tonner travels at an overall operating weight of 36 tonnes, including a 9 tonne counterweight and 16m biparted swing-away jib. The vehicle has all-wheel steering which allows remarkable manoeuvrability.
