Fry Transport was established by Managing Director, Sammy Fry, who started off the business in 1988 with one truck - a Volvo F7. At that time, as an owner/driver, he was working as a subcontractor for another haulier when he made the difficult decision to go it alone. Hard work and Sammy’s steely determination saw the business developing regular general haulage work throughout Ireland. In addition, with the benefit of being based in the port town of Larne on the Antrim coast, the operation was also able to gain a foothold in the general haulage market operating between Ireland and the UK mainland, thus helping the company to expand still further.
With a fleet of around 35 trucks (Volvo, DAF & Scania) and more than 150 trailers (including curtainsiders, flatbeds, extenders and low loaders), Fry Transport trucks were a familiar sight to many collectors throughout both Ireland and mainland UK.
Sadly, this Company is no longer trading.
