Renault Magnum (4x2) with a 3 axle, curtain trailer, customised in the stunning livery of Scottish operator Haig Transport.

This is the first Renault Magnum model in a Scottish haulier’s livery to be offered to collectors by Search Impex and as an added bonus, the model is also a “Signature Series” release.  This means that not only is it a Limited Edition model (120 pieces) but also that the certificates have been individually signed by the Company owners – in this case, Douglas and Marco Haig.

Founded in 1946 by David Wilkie Haig, the Company started life as an agricultural haulier, servicing farms in the Bellshill area.  Over the next two decades, the business grew substantially and by the late 1960’s it was one of the largest transport employers in the area.  In the early 1970’s, David W. Haig was beginning to venture into the European marketplace and again led the way by being the first Scottish haulier to have regular runs into Italy – a service which continues to the present day.

On the retirement of David Haig, his son, Douglas - who already played a major role in the business - took up the reins and Douglas has, similarly, also been joined by his son – Marco, now taking ownership of the Company into the third generation of Haig’s.  Nowadays, the Company occupies a purpose built site back in the hometown of Bellshill and with the continuation of UK / European traffic, is a valuable asset to the Scottish haulage industry (this being recognised in 2002 with the winning of Transport News Scottish Haulier of the Year award).

The fleet, predominantly Renault and Volvo, are beautifully liveried and very much in keeping with tradition – exactly how David Wilkie Haig would, perhaps, have envisioned it over 60 years ago.
