Volvo FH16 Globetrotter XL (6x2) with 3 axle, Omeps bellied powder tanker trailer, customised in the classy livery of well known Scottish operator, William Nicol.
The models have been produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Collectibles as a certificated, Limited Edition (205 pieces).
Established in 1935, William Nicol originally started trading from a roadside garage in Kintore, near Aberdeen, offering general haulage services to serve the needs of local markets and businesses. The business grew steadily and in 1957 the Company relocated to Pittodrie Steet in Aberdeen where it remained for 45 years.
In the early 1960’s, William Nicol received an enquiry about transporting liquids in the form of beef tallow, used in the production of soap. This was a new area of operation for the Company and necessitated investment in its first tanker trailers. It was also the catalyst which, ultimately, was to transform the business and see it move out of general haulage and become what it is today – a specialist in the storage and movement of bulk liquids (both hazardous & non-hazardous) throughout the UK & Europe.
Now based in Portlethen on the outskirts of Aberdeen, William Nicol runs a fleet of trucks operating at up to 44 tonnes and caters for customers in a variety of industries, including oil & gas, fisheries, paper-making, engineering, automotive and distilling. The bellied powder tankers are a relatively new addition to the William Nicol fleet and have been acquired to enable the Company to broaden its support to customers in the oil and gas industry where specialised powders are used during the extraction process.
Always immaculately presented in attractive, traditional livery, William Nicol trucks will be a familiar sight to many collectors and enthusiasts and this model release will surely be a “must have” in any model collection.
