60TH ANNIVERSARY TO SEE SMALLER TRUCKS AT TDW!

Customised promotional model vehicle specialists, Search Impex, are pleased to announce the release of a 1:50 scale Volvo FH5 Globetrotter (6×2) tractor unit and 3 axle, curtain trailer, customised in the livery of Welsh operator TDW Distribution.

The models have been commissioned to mark the 60th anniversary of TDW Distribution in 2023 and have been produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Models as a certificated Limited Edition (270 pieces).

T.D.Williams (Brynamman) was established in 1963 by Tommy Williams. Originally based in Brynamman – a village located in Brecon Beacons National Park – the business operated as coal merchants until the miners’ strike of 1972 when the strategic decision was made to switch the business to general haulage.

The present day business is still family owned and has evolved over the years to become a major logistics operator in the UK market and it benefits from having a long serving team of logistics experts and experienced drivers in the workforce. It offers a next day delivery service anywhere in the UK and also undertakes fast and efficient delivery services across mainland Europe and beyond. As well as being one of the largest carriers of palletised freight, TDW Distribution offers comprehensive warehouse and logistic facilities to its customers and has the ability to handle loads ranging from one pallet and mixed groupage, through to multiple full trailer loads.

Nowadays, the head office is located in Bridgend, South Wales and is less than five minutes from the M4 motorway where TDW has further depots, warehousing facilities and additional bases sited along the M4 corridor. Storage and distribution services and solutions are provided to a large number of clients in a diverse range of industry sectors – from food & beverages, hair care products and packaging, through to home insulation supplies, building products and many others industrial and consumer goods.

The Company’s fleet, numbering around 85 trucks and 150 trailers and also water tankers are all liveried in TDW’s smart, business-like, two tone blue and white livery. Its vehicles are fitted with state of the art tracking technology and software enabling immediate monitoring of all vehicle movements using leading-edge technology traffic management systems. Volvo trucks (with the new FH5 units being the latest arrivals) and Scania are the mainstay of the fleet which, for sure, will be a familiar sight to many UK truck spotters and collectors as the vehicles travel the length and breadth of the UK.
