Customised promotional model vehicle specialist Search Impex is pleased to announce the release of a DAF XF 510 Euro 6 Super Space (6×2) tractor unit with 3 axle, cattle float trailer, customised in the striking livery of Scottish livestock transport specialists Bert Christie.

The models have been produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Collectibles as a certificated Limited Edition (205 pieces).

Based in Boyndie, near Portsoy in Aberdeenshire (formerly Banffshire), today’s livestock transport business was established in 1997 by Bert Christie. Born in 1946 to a family with a traditional farming background, Bert’s childhood days were spent on rural farms where he came to experience many aspects of the farming industry – and in particular working with livestock.

At the age of 22, Bert was asked by a local livestock haulier if he would like to join them as a driver. Already having a keen interest in motor vehicles and with a good grounding in working with livestock, this seemed an opportunity too good to miss and so began Bert’s career in livestock transport. Sadly, however, after almost 30 years working with the same livestock haulier, Bert found himself facing redundancy and so, in 1997, he made the bold decision to invest in his own truck (a DAF 3300 Super Space 6×2) and livestock trailer. Setting out to work as an owner driver, he soon picked up regular local business and so Bert Christie Livestock Haulage was born.

Business flourished until 2006 when disaster struck and Bert was involved in a serious accident (when the upper floor in a livestock trailer collapsed on him). The crush injuries he received as result of the accident left him unable to work for almost two years. During that time, in order to keep the business going, Bert was assisted greatly by his son, Neil, – with whom, subsequently, he has gone into partnership.

Nowadays, Bert Christie Livestock Hauliers operates two DAF artics and a Scania rigid. Bert’s son, Neil, is the main driver of the new DAF – although Bert still gets to have a go when Neil is on leave! Livestock movements undertaken by the business are throughout the UK and the Company’s vehicles are all adorned in the classy red & silver colourscheme which will be a familiar sight to many collectors.
