D. STEVEN & SON – PROUDLY SERVING CAITHNESS FOR OVER 100 YEARS!

Customised promotional model vehicle specialists, Search Impex, are delighted to announce the release of a 1:50 scale Scania S650 (6×2) single wheel tag axle tractor unit with 3 axle, Carrier refrigerated trailer, customised in the special 100 years livery of Scottish haulier D. Steven & Son.

The models have been produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Collectibles as a certificated Limited Edition (405 pieces) and are packaged in a bespoke 100 years presentation box.

“Highland Fox V” – the truck on which the model is based – is one of a number of new Scania units which have recently joined the fleet of this very well-known Scottish haulier. The Scania model, like its real-life counterpart, bears fleet number 19 and is subtly embellished with the new and tasteful “DS & Son 100 years 1920-2020” logo, whilst the back doors of the trailer carries the meaningful, yet pleasingly simple, phrase “Serving Caithness for over 100 years”.

These anniversary models join the steadily growing and highly sought-after collection of other previously released D. Steven & Son 1:50 scale models.

A total of seven Scania new generation Scania trucks have just gone on the road and more are planned to join the fleet at the end of this year. As would be expected, the latest additions are all turned out in keeping with this operator’s tradition of applying classy and traditional graphics to a fleet which will require little, if any, introduction to collectors. Indeed, the D Steven & Son name continues to attract a keen collectors’ following extending well into mainland Europe and beyond.

Now in business for more than 100 years, the Company was established in Wick, Caithness, in 1920 by David Steven (grandfather of the present Managing Director) and the first vehicle in the “fleet” was a horse and cart. Whilst ensuring such humble origins are never forgotten, (to this day, two horse head graphics proudly feature on the front of every truck in the fleet), the Company has gone from strength to strength over the years.

Nowadays, D Steven & Son is a well-known and respected player in the haulage market and the Company works with a variety of clients across a broad spectrum of industry. With a large fleet of trucks (all Scania) and a variety of trailers, the Company is, perhaps, best known for the refrigerated transport side of its business – and particularly for the carrying of fish.
