Shropshire based Grocontinental has recently commissioned another run of 1:43 scale models through Derbyshire based model trucks specialist Search Impex. The models, based on MAN TGX XLX (6×2) units and 3 axle, refrigerated trailers, have been customised in the Company’s attractive new livery.
Originally set up as a livestock transport service for local farmers, GroContinental was founded in the 1930’s by Victor Grocott. Today, whilst the business remains family owned and managed (by brother and sister team David and Linda Grocott), it has grown enormously over the years and now offers a comprehensive range of services, including multi-temperature storage, blast freezing, ingredient sorting and co-packing, cheese cutting and packing and, of course, transport.
On the transport side of the business, GroContinental operates a fleet of around 60 trucks and over 120 trailers , including dual compartment (frozen & chilled) and tautliners and makes an average of 300 deliveries per day (full and part load) covering the UK and mainland Europe. In 2004 and again in 2011, the Company won the Motor Transport Haulier of the Year award.
Models, available from Search Impex, are priced at £110 each (including UK delivery & VAT). For details of availability of this and other models, collectors can visit the Search Impex website at www.search-impex.co.uk or call on 01332 873555.
