HAWTHORNS LOGISTICS FLIES THE FLAG AGAIN FOR CHARITY!

Customised promotional model vehicle specialists, Search Impex, are pleased to announce the release of two new 1:43 scale model trucks. The models are based on Scania S Highline tractor units, customised in Hawthorns Logistics’ livery and they come with two different versions of fridge trailer livery – one supporting the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and the other supporting Dragonfly Cancer Trust.

Both releases are complete with individually numbered Limited Edition Certificates (just 55 models per release).

Based in Consett, Co Durham, Hawthorns Logistics is a family run Company. The owners of the today’s business originally had a history of involvement in the haulage and parcel industry but, in 1988, they opted to relocate from the Birmingham area and move up to the North East, where they planned to progress into chilled distribution. After more than 20 years of working in and for other companies, the bold step was taken to set up their own business and so, in 2009, with just one employee and a truck hired in from Scania Truck Rental, Hawthorns Logistics was born.

Through a combination of hard work, determination and dedication to customer service, Hawthorns Logistics now runs a fleet of about 30 trucks (almost exclusively Scania) with fridge trailers and undertakes distribution of food products throughout the UK, delivering to supermarket RDC’s 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Always keen to support charitable causes, it seemed a fitting choice for Hawthorns Logistics to support the Great North Air Ambulance Service following an accident involving one of its trucks and a car. The emergency services attending the accident (which was not the fault of the Hawthorns Logistics’ driver) called for the assistance of the air ambulance in order to get the car driver to hospital as quickly as possible. Thankfully, as a result of the fast transfer to hospital and subsequent medical attention, the driver survived. Hawthorns currently operate 5 trailers with different GNAAS designs on.

This year, Hawthorns extended its charitable support to Dragonfly Cancer Trust. Following a meeting with their accountants (who, incidentally, are also Patrons of the Trust), Hawthorns met and talked to the Dragonfly Cancer Trust and were greatly moved by the work of the organisation and the people involved. As a result of the meeting, Hawthorns offered to livery two of their fridge trailers to serve as mobile billboards for the Trust in order to help raise awareness of the Trust and generate much needed funds. Dragonfly Cancer Trust (originally known as Josie’s Dragonfly Trust) was founded in 2007 by Cliff and Jacqui Grove in memory of their daughter Josie Madeline Grove, shortly after she passed away aged 16. Dragonfly Cancer Trust makes a very real and positive difference to the lives of young cancer patients with limited time. They passionately believe in the importance of happy memories and work tirelessly to make them happen for young people and their families.

These models are not available from Search Impex, but more details on purchasing them can be found on www.greatnorthairambulance.co.uk/shop or for Dragonfly Cancer Trust by contacting them on 01434 602043
