Kinlochbervie Fishselling Company

Derbyshire based promotional model vehicle specialists, Search Impex, are delighted to announce the (sell-out) release of a 1:50 scale Scania S500 Highline (6×2) tractor unit and 3 axle, refrigerated trailer, customised in the highly attractive livery of Scottish operator Kinlochbervie Fishselling Company.

The models were produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Collectibles as a certificated, Limited Edition (235 pieces).

Kinlochbervie Fishselling Company is a trading branch of The Don Fishing Co Ltd – one of Scotland’s oldest fishing companies. Located in the Highland region of Scotland, Kinlochbervie is a scattered harbour village in the north west of Sutherland and is the most northerly port on the west coast of Scotland. It is an important port due to its strategic location in relation to the North West Fishing Grounds. As one of Scotland’s major fishing ports with demersal (fish which live close to the sea bed) sales of up to £11 million per annum, the dominant feature of the town is the large fish market. From here catches are loaded onto refrigerated lorries for transport by road throughout Europe. Kinlochbervie lies at the end of a 40 mile single track road which makes for challenging driving conditions. Given its remote location fishing and crofting remain an important part of life in the area and Kinlochbervie Fishselling Co is an important employer in the village, where the fishing industry underpins the local economy. The Don Fishing Co runs fish auctions, as well as being involved in vessel management, chandlery, boxes, fuel, ice and refrigerated transport to support the fishing industry in the Sutherland area. Kinlochbervie Fishselling Company is the transport arm of The Don Fishing Co., and fish sold through the port’s auction market is taken to destinations in the rest of the UK and Europe by refrigerated transport.

The Scania S500 is the most recent addition to the fleet – a fleet which over the years has embraced many of the major truck marques, including Volvo, Mercedes, DAF & MAN and, of course, Scania. As would be expected, the new Scania has been liveried very much in keeping with this operator’s well known and very attractive livery and together with fridge trailer, it makes for a truly eye-catching sight as it travels its regular routes across the Scottish Highlands.
