1:50 scale Volvo FH16 750 Globetrotter XL (6×2) and 3 axle, skirted curtain trailer in the livery of Malcolm Logistics, a division of The Malcolm Group, the UK’s leading provider of Logistics, Construction and Maintenance services.
The truck was the 200,000th Volvo to be registered in the UK, so to celebrate this remarkable milestone both Malcolm Group & Volvo Trucks teamed up to do something equally as incredible.
In what was almost certainly the most glamorous and totally unique truck handover ceremony ever staged, Malcolm Group Chief Executive Officer Andrew Malcolm officially took delivery of the stunning FH16-750 tractor unit on stage, at London’s premier charity fundraising event – The Emeralds & Ivy Ball. Volvo Trucks President Claes Nilsson then joined Andrew Malcolm on stage to present the founder of the Emeralds & Ivy Ball and host for the evening, Ronan Keating, with a joint £100,000 donation to Cancer Research UK and the Marie Keating Foundation.
The Volvo truck has been finished in Malcolm’s corporate blue and red livery and further embellished with the use of some metallic paintwork, as well as a graphic to the front of the cab, proudly asserting its status as the 200,000th Volvo in the UK. The model itself will be coupled with a tri-axle, skirted, curtainside trailer, designed with a unique one off livery in recognition of Malcolm Logistics winning the Motor Transport Haulier of the Year 2016 Award.
Speaking at the event Volvo Trucks Managing Director Arne Knaben added: “In line with Volvo’s Scottish roots in the UK, it is fitting that the 200,000th truck has been supplied to Malcolm Group, Scotland’s largest transport operator. We are humbled to be chosen by Andrew to take part in helping Cancer Research and The Marie Keating Foundation.”
Originating as a family-owned business in the 1920’s, The Malcolm Group began with assets of just a single horse and cart. A small family-run enterprise, its operation involved collecting coal from the nearby railway station, filling individual sacks in preparation for door-to-door deliveries in and around the local area. Today the group has grown to become one of the leading providers of Logistics, Construction and Maintenance services in the UK, employing over 2000 people.
Malcolm Logistics offers fully-integrated Road, Rail, Warehousing, and Bonded Warehousing services throughout the UK. Across 22 locations nationwide, 3 of which are rail side, Malcolm Logistics operates over 5 million sq feet of warehousing and meets the needs of its customers by offering a seamless door-to-door service.
