Customised promotional model vehicle specialists, Search Impex, are delighted to announce the forthcoming release of “Tilly Brig” - a 1:50 scale DAF XG+ (6x2) solo tractor unit, customised in the 50 years’ anniversary livery of well-known Aberdeen based operator Dyce Carriers Ltd.
The models will be produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Models as a certificated Limited Edition and are expected to be available around late Q3 of 2023.
With the head office in Aberdeen and three further depots in Scotland (at Invergordon, Dalgety Bay and Grangemouth), as well as one in England at Poole, today’s operation runs a fleet in excess of 80 commercial vehicles. This comprises a mix of Volvo, DAF, MAN, Renault & Mercedes units and a variety of trailers, including extendables, flats, curtains and stepframes, as well as a number of self-load crane vehicles. Dyce Carriers specialises in serving the transport needs of oil and gas service providers as well as local engineering companies and loads can vary from small, urgent consignments, through to groupage, full loads and even helicopters!
The DAF XG+ (on which the model will be based) is one of the very latest additions to the fleet and has been liveried to mark the occasion of Dyce Carrier’s 50th anniversary in 2023. The truck comes complete with a personalised registration plate, CM23 DCL, in recognition of dedicated Company Director, Candice Moir. The humble origins of Dyce Carriers go back to 1973 when, joint founders, David & Jean Moir started the Company with a great deal of ambition and a Morris Minor van. In the early days, Dyce Carriers operated out of the Moir’s family home in the Aberdeenshire village of Tilly Brig – hence the naming of the first Golden Truck in honour of where it all began. And, incidentally, it’s no mistake to say “first” Golden Truck because a second Golden Truck (a Volvo) will also soon be arriving in the fleet - and so too, hopefully, will another scaled-down counterpart be somewhere close behind!

The models are expected to be priced around £136 each (including UK delivery & VAT). We do NOT require any deposit payment. We will simply notify you as soon as the model is available and only at that time will we require payment in full.
