Promotional model trucks specialist Search Impex is pleased to announce the forthcoming release of a 1:50 scale Mercedes Actros MP3 LH 4160 Titan Gigaspace (8x4) solo tractor unit with ballast box, customised in the livery of well-known UK heavy haulage operator GCS Johnson.
The models will be produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Models as a certificated Limited Edition.
Based in the North Yorkshire village of Barton, near Richmond and located close to the main A1M road, GCS Johnson (Skeeby) Ltd was established in 1969 beginning in general haulage with just one flatbed trailer and one tractor unit. Within three years the Company purchased its very first heavy haulage trailer, a municipal step frame low loader which was used to move rock drilling equipment and large compressors from nearby quarries.
The business gradually gained a reputation as the “go to” Company for moving awkward and abnormal loads and requests to move vessels and a variety of difficult and oversize industrial fabrications soon began to arrive – many of which required the purchase of more specialist trailers and bigger equipment. From there the Company has gone on to develop its range of equipment to include a comprehensive fleet of 50 trailers and 16 tractor units , thereby enabling it to meet virtually any heavy and abnormal load requirements.
In 2013, one of a kind - in the form of the Mercedes Actros MP3 Titan Gigaspace 8x4 – joined the growing G C S Johnson fleet. Believed to be the last Actros of this type to come out of the factory before the launch of the MP4 Actros, it is a well-respected and much liked “heavy” within the Company. Left hand drive and plated up to 250 tonnes (STGO CAT 3), it continues to prove itself as a good, reliable truck and is part of a fleet which includes a number of other Mercedes units, as well as Scania & DAF trucks which, in conjunction with a highly skilled team of experts, ensure that G C S Johnson is able to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to many challenging heavy haulage problems.
