J. G. McWILLIAM KEEPS IN STEP!
Derbyshire based promotional model vehicle specialists, Search Impex, are delighted to announce the release of a 1:50 scale Scania S500 High 6x2 (single wheel tag axle) tractor unit and 3 axle, stepframe low loader trailer, customised in the instantly recognisable livery of Scottish operator, J. G. McWilliam.
The models have been produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Models as a certificated Limited Edition (155 pieces).
This is the third model to be commissioned through Search Impex by this operator and follows on from the earlier releases of a Volvo FH16 Globetrotter XL with walking floor trailer and a Scania 143 with curtain trailer.
With its origins in the farming fraternity, J. G. McWilliam was established in 1970 by farmer, James McWilliam, whose diversification into the haulage industry came about simply as a result of looking for a new commercial interest. Initially selling and delivering coal & smokeless fuels, firewood & peat, today’s operation continues to haul coal, as well as grain and also offers a general haulage service throughout the UK and occasionally into Europe.
Now run by second (Kenny) and third generation (Bruce) of the McWillam family, the Company is based in Huntly, Aberdeenshire. With a fleet of around 10 trucks (a mix of Scania, Volvo and most recently, Iveco) and a variety of trailers, including bulk tippers, flatbeds, curtainsiders and walking floors, the Company is capable of meeting a wide variety of transport requirements. This capability is further enhanced with the inclusion of the low loader in the Company’s trailer mix, enabling the transport of plant and machinery and other industrial goods to be undertaken throughout the UK. Although the actual trailer is not currently in true company colours, the trailer model will be finished in the two tone blue to match the truck because there are, we are told, future plans to have the real trailer repainted in J G McWilliam’s corporate colours!
Beautifully adorned in traditional Scottish livery, J. G. McWilliam’s trucks will already be well known to many collectors and lorry enthusiasts alike and this model release will make a very attractive addition to any model truck collection.
